Long COVID, also known as Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), refers to a range of symptoms that can persist for weeks or months after the initial COVID-19 infection. These symptoms can affect multiple organ systems and significantly impact an individual’s quality of life.

Common symptoms of long COVID include fatigue, shortness of breath, cognitive issues (or “brain fog”), joint pain, chest pain, headaches, palpitations, and gastrointestinal issues. The severity and duration of these symptoms can vary from person to person.

Diagnosing long COVID can be challenging, as symptoms may overlap with other conditions. At Institut Für Long COVID Und Chronische Krankheit Research, we are working on developing innovative diagnostic tools and identifying biomarkers to help accurately diagnose long COVID.
